Playback of MPEG quant. under what software?

Sorry I couldn't find this info in the FAQ or on google or anywhere, but when I playback Xvid with the Mpeg quant, it has lots of little chromatic errors, especially around text under the DivX decoder. If I set the FourCC to Xvid, I don't get any filters that accelerate, there's just the video renderer running in file>properties under WMP 6.4. So when I make it fullscreen, no acceleration, and it's choppy.

Did I miss something during install? Or am I supposed to use a certain software player?

For the time being I'm simply using H2.63 quant. because that gives me no problems, but I would still like to be able to compare it to the other one eventually, and help some other people who have the same problem out. Thanks.

Try restarting the computer, & also use graphedit to see if the XviD filter has installed itself properly (it will be in the directshow list)

Where did you get the DShow filter from (my site, koepi's, etc) & what version of windows are you running?

Nic: I'm also having troubles getting the DS filter to work. It just doesn't register even if I enter regsvr32 c:\path\xvid.ax, all I get is "Loadlibrary c:\path\xvid.ax failed - the specified module could not be found".

download my installer version from the xvid link in my signature.
after that, you can reinstall nic's build.

And your problems are gone ;)

Thanks... that seems to have worked... acceleration now, none-the-less... too bad my cpu can't handle any of the deblocking/effects.

Any clue to what kinda cpu it takes to decode 4000 kb/s 640x480 video smoothly, with all 6 enabled? Probably not even possible i bet... oh well. Works and looks fine without it. When I upgrade later I'll worry about it then.
