View Full Version : OGG Vorbis 5.1 playback problems

Hello,

I encoded a AC3 file into a 6-channel OGG vorbis file using the OGG machine.
I cannot played it with the media player as the Direct show filter 0.985 is only working for 2-channel file. But in Doom9 guide it is written that the winamp plug-In shall be able to play it. When I start it, windows gives me an error.
The thing is that I have a Sound Blaster PCI 64 (so only 2 channels), but I'm able to listen to AC3 5.1 (even if I only hear 2 channels). So how could I check if my file is ok ?

The next obvious question would go to Tobias, do you have any idea when you will release a new version of OGG vorbis directshow that could allow playback ?

One last point to DSPGuru and a feedback to OGGmachine
What about showing the average value of bitrate when the quality factor is modified ?

Update your WinAmp using PP's plug-ins to play it.

Your wasting your time ATM though. Multi-channel playback isn't really possible as the channel mappings are incorrect. Tobias is working on a DSF to fix this. Stick with 2ch encodes for the time being.

My winamp plugin was already updated using the lastest version available.
I don't think I waste my time trying to have a 5.1 ogg file than a 2.0 but I probably shall wait for a Direct Show filter to be ready to avoid any problem in graphedit.

@DSGuru
Thanks for your really quick update of OGGMachine.
