Just posted this on the DivX forums, reposted here FYI
I just purchased DivX 5 Pro yesterday, and after the first tests I don't really know what to think. Hopefully it'll improve with the minor releases, just like DivX 4 did.
On my first test encode (a music video, Revolting Cocks - Da Ya Think I'm Sexy), with all the new mpeg 4 options enabled, I got lots of ugly green/purple squares in some patterns that were mostly the same color, in scenes with lots of motion. Encoding it again without the extras resulted in no squares. Eventually I had it narrowed down to GMC through trial and error.
It's probably a problem that won't turn up very often, but seeing as I don't want to risk wasting five hours on an encode that might turn out crappy, I'll be leaving GMC off for now.
Filed a bug report yesterday, hopefully it'll get fixed in one of the next revisions...
