View Full Version : Huge 1st pass file > 4Go !

I had a problem encoding "Saving private Ryan". I have used the 050302 codec from Koepi, which is the same than the 020302 version, which I used successfully with "Mission to Mars".
However, this time, the 1st pass encoding made crash VirtualDub after 77%, because the file has reached the 4Go limit for a Fat32 file.
Is that normal ? This time I wanted to see the 1st pass avi, and set the driver to keep the 1st pass file. Is that the reason why ? Will it work if I ask to discard the 1st pass file ?

Here are my parameters :
Size 608*256
1st pass
MSP 6-Ultra High
Quant Modulated
Min/max 10/300
Tuning min/max 1/16, no luminance
2nd pass internal
Quant Modulated
No luminance filter
Size 1440000 (wanted 2 700Mo CDs)
Keyframe Boost 50%
Curve compression BP delay 240, HB 25%, LB 15%
Iframe min/max 1/5 (there is no box for the smooth change anymore. I guess it is enabled ?)

Thank you for your advises.

You shouldn't "keep first pass file" on a movie that could hit the 4GB barrier onto a non-NTFS partition.

I guessed that !
Thanks a lot.
