Perhaps you forgot to put the quality level down in the Decoder
Configuration. I noticed that with DivX 5, it bumped up the quality
level to near maximum. That's definately gonna slow down all but
near 1GHz systems.
I have a Celeron 366MHz and DivXs still run at full speed for me - even while I'm connected to the internet via software modem (software
modems take a chunk out of processor usage).
This is with the quality level at minimum.
btw, I use GDivX for playback.
