What the crap? DivX Player 2.0 Alpha + DivX 5.0 + avi encoded in DivX 4.12 = crap?

I dont know whats going on here, but when I view avi's encoded with DivX4.12 in DivX Player 2.0 Alpha (and DivX5.0 pro codec installed) I get some really bizzare visual artifacts. Its kind of like in some places with a very light object moving over a dark background gives a "smeared" effect over where the light object moved. This does not happen in Wimp or ZoomPlayer btw.

Do not use the DivX Player 2.0, it is very buggy with old DivX Encoded movies

gonna sound obvious but if your movies work perfect in the players you've been using all along, then don't use divx player !!

Thats a good idea in theory, but I saw in another post someone mention that DivX5 avi's look better when played in the the DivX playa than when played in Wimp. So I cant just associate a certain player for avi files can I? I have to first figure out if its a divx 4.x or divx5 avi, then open it in the right viewer... the playa if its divx5 and wimp if its divx4.x... hassle.
