Hi,

I use the pro with the ads now with all settings the same as in v4.12. So none of the new features enabled.
One pass, 320kbps, default settings for quantizer etc.

DivX 5 is allmost twice as slow!

The only thing different is the scene change detect (50%) which setting doesn 't exist in v4.12...

I read some people have a speedgain of about 20%.
I find it a bit frustrating,

Am I the only one?

Thanks

1/3 the speed of divx4 w/o any new features...
(on a p2-412mhz...)

btw: posting this might be illegal as the license states NO BENCHMARKS etc. (yes, i read it).
but, i deinstalled it to go back to 4.12 anyway...

maybe they only have mmx+sse (p3), mmx+sse2 (p4) or mmx+3dnow (athlon) codepaths now and no mmx only codepath anymore...
stupid! (well... your loss, really... how about an official, kinda stabilised xvid-built? nic, koepi? ;))

There stable....just not completely bug free ;) By the time the bugs are fixed in one release, their replaced.

But were getting there :)

(...So, when you going to add DVD authentication to VStrip ;) )

Cheers,

Ah I knew it. I thought about it all day @ work. Not much else to think about this day;) I too have a pII so it 's logical to assume mmx-only isn 't (yet) implemented.

So, is Xvid just as user friendly as divX 4.12?
Is one pass VBR with one given bitrate possible?
I took a peak and noticed the bitrate slider wasn 't too precise...

Thanks for the input
