I was just wondering,

does the graphic card is of any influence on the encoding speed while encoding dvd to svcd. For example using Dvdx or similar programs...
It seems to me that it doesn't because the encoding is fairly cpu-bound but I might be wrong....

Nope. It's all CPU.

oke,

that's true. But, let's take dvdx for example. You can specify "render every xx frame". Let's assume I put in 25. Then the screen refreshes after every 25th frame. This is graphic card work and thus at least a little cpu. So if I would disable the rendering would this result in performance gain ?

this is the dvd2svcd forum and graphics cards do nothing to speed up the encoding time.
i wouldn't say it's all cpu, although this is mostly true. VERY important is also your memory (you need at least 256 to have any performance to speak of). also mem timing, fsb and such can help as long as changing them doesn't hurt your system's stability.
if you want to know about dvdx i suggest you try somewhere else

Oke,

sorry, didn't meant dvdx especially, it was just a general question...:D
