at the homepage of divx.com they said that the new codec works together with all great encoding tools, including gk.

Ahah.....just found where it mentions Gordianknot.

The only way I can think of it does this is that you completely uninstall DivX 4.xx from your system and leave only DivX 5.0 on there.

Then when Vdub starts up and selects a DivX codec to use, it would have to choose 5.0

Sound plausible? I think I'll try that

might be..on the other side it would be great to chose from 3/4/5 when encoding...

it would be just MARVELOUS if 5.0 was integrated in the next update of gnot....

you can install the divx5 over 4.xx without problems!!!

in virtualdub, choose the 5 and set in the configuration first pass and perhaps all the other nice things (like gmc, whatever this means). Than you start gk and choose only "first pass", the configuration you have done with virtualdub before stays, because gk isn't able to chane them (understandable).

After this you choose 2nd pass in vd, and do again the first pass with gk. now you are able to see the quality of v5, its great!!

At last in don't think it's a problem to implement v5 into gk, because it's fully runable with the commandline you can see in the "configure" menu of v5 in virtualdub..

1. the quality is great! really great!

2. works without problems in bsplayer

3. don't be afraid of the fps in first pass (on my computer with all extras only about 5-7), the second pass is about 40% faster!!!

ONE QUESTION:

I've downloaded the banner pro version of the codec, but where's the banner???

Hi,

The banner doesn't show up when you are encoding or watching a movie, it shows when you are surfing the web. All it is is a series of ads that pops up when you are web browsing. YOu can set it for as low as 5 ads per week.

As far as I can tell on the boards, the claims about the 2nd pass being a lot faster are true....
