ive got a pb:
ive a pII350 320Mo SDRAM under win2K, i use gknot to encode its take about 4hour for 20min
i send gknot to e friend wou have a p3 850 and 680Mo of ram under winXP and it take 6hours to encode the same 20min of movie!!!!
i cant understand how a pIII 850 can be so slow, is there a tweak to do or anything ....
thx in adv
Are you sure you used the same filtering options ?.
The filters used for heavy noise filtering can easily quadruble encoding time, compared to no filtering.

he said me not,... i stille dont understand, another strange thing, when he finish his 2pass encoding , the result is : 2 .avi of 550Mo files with video and sound, its curious becaus on my system the first pass .avi is about 60Mo and its not video (i think its only stats for the 2nd pass) and i obtain a perfect 700Mo divx
is it possible that i lack of some software under winxp that could slow down the encoding

No, no, no and no .. a P2 350 cannot encode DivX faster than a P3 850 .. no, no and no !!!
Something is wrong, very wrong !
1. are you using the same settings i.e cropping and scaling etc.
2. is he running any software in the background ?
3. the difference in filesize also suggest that he is doing something wrong.
