Hi I wasnt sure where this query would fit in so I put it in the general Forum

I ripped a DVD for a movie using Smart Ripper and have the VOB files on my harddisk. But the last VOB file contains the last couple of scenes of the movie and continues on the the extra features like cast interviews and stuff. I wanna encode the movie only and dont want the extra stuff. Is there a way I can edit/cut the VOB file so that I can chop of the unnnecessary portion. I know, if I do Divx, I can edit the avi's later and cut/join them, but I want to make an SVCD using DVD2SVCD. Has anyone come across this before. Any solutions/suggestions? Will be glad for any help.

Thx

Well...
I can tell you one way. Possibly there is an easier solution.
But here is what I would do.
Just rip the vobs as you do it normally. Load it into DVD2AVI and there you can use marks to select the part you want. Save project. Make an avisynth (or Vfapi) and use CCE to encode it.
And since you're using DVD2SVCD you can always let it run for some time, stop it just when CCE starts, save a new project (under DVD2AVI) using the same file name for the project as the one that dvd2svcd created and use Crash Recovery.
As I said - maybe there is an easier soultion, but that's something I can think of.
I think I have heard about proggie that can cut vobs - not sure though.

i would suggest moving this thread to the dvd2svcd basic forum. :)

OK will try that, But I had another Question. What does the IFO File tell the Encoding Program? Does it just tell the program which vob's to use or does it tell it where the movie starts and ends(even if it ends in between a vob file). In case of the former, If I remove a vob file (containign a part of the movie) will there be an error?
