I recently installed the DirectX sdk 8.1 and after that i tried to play one of my movies with vbr mp3 audio but i get the error in the screenshot and i can't watch the movie. I uninstalled the directx sdk but still i get the same error.
Does anyone know how can i disable it ?
EDIT: screenShot deleted

Your attachment didn't make it.
Have you tried reinstalling your MP3 codec? Most likely the Radium playback filter that comes with Div3. I'm guessing here.

I don't know why sometimes the attachments don't work. I tried Reattaching the screenshot but the forum says that i can't attach duplicate photos. Oh well here is the error:
"Invalid audio but not signalling error."
At line 477 of d:\xpclient\multimedia\dshow\filterus\avi\avimsr\aviindex.cpp continue? (cancel to debug)
Also the above path is not a path on the hardDisk because D: is cd-rom drive
@MaTTeR CBR mp3 plays fine and vbr mp3 when multiplexed into the ogg container plays fine also. I don't think the problem is the codec but the trick that Nando did, so that nandub can multiplex vbr mp3 into avi's.
Any idea how to disable it ?

Uhg...that's a good one you have then.
Other than cleaning the registry of all NanDub entries and then doing a clean install of ND, I'm at a loss:rolleyes: Sorry

Does anyone else had problems playing avi's with vbr mp3 audio after installing the DirectX sdk 8.1 ?

This is a (not so well known, but acknowledged) problem when you mux with NanDub. According to Avery Lee, it occurs with vbr mp3 only, but try to open in VDub 1.4.8 an avi with cbr mp3 that was muxed with NanDub and notice that you still get the warning message. Have a look also at the threads http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=76357 and http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17688 Maybe gabest could help you with fixing it?

I had exactly the same problem ,I have installed Directx Sdk ,I was trying to compile some sources that needed that.I have solved the problem as follows:
Uninstall Directx Sdk ,reinstall de mp3 codec, and afterwards reinstall
the simple Directx81,reboot and that's all.
I hope that can help you.

i never tried to install that sdk, but here's an assumption :
the dlls you installed are Debug versions, and therefore will raise assertions. in order to prevent this, you need to replace the sdk package (Debug mode) with the regular directx package (Release mode).
just an assumption..

That was exactly what I've done; and I am afraid you are right, and that shows once more the problem with vbr in avi files. We all are waiting MCF, aren't we?

@DSPguru Yes i installed the debug mode of the sdk.
I replaced it with the retail version but the problem is still there. I checked with the directX diagnostic tool and a lot dll's that are installed are debug mode still after replacing the sdk. I reinstalled also the mp3 codec but nothing again.
Anyone knows a tool that can clean the system from directX & directX sdk, i think it's the only solution that doesn't involve format:eek:
