Not really related to Divx but this is the only board i post on anymore. I'm puting together a home theater PC for Divx/MP3 playing and I really don't want to use Windows Media Player because of how poorly it's playlist function is. I've found over 100 MP3 players some with vorbis support some without, can someone give me a clue where to start?
Also can someone recomend a good CD->OGG conversion sofware with 6 channel support, i know i could alway convert it to a wav and use headache but I have a feeling that would be a big headache after awhile ;).

It's not publicly available but I suspect that PowerDivxNG 4 will the most flexible player. BlackSun is a coding maniac ATM and each new version is getting better and better. You can download 3.12 @ powerdivx.com right now and check out the features.
AFAIK HeadAC3he is the first and only encoding tool that supports 6ch Vorbis. Besides 6ch playback has a nasty speaker mapping issue so 6ch Vorbis isn't useful for now. Why would you convert your 2ch Audio CD's to a 6ch format anyway? EAC with Vorbis support is the best method to convert audio CD's IMHO.

Thanks for the info, as for the converting 2 channel audio CDs to 6 channels, that wouldnt make any sense, sorry I havent done any CD rips in over 2 years and Vorbis is the only reason i'm going to start again.
PowerDivxNG sounds interesting for an all in one package and i'll deffinatly have to check it out but I don't mind having seperated programs for divx movies and rips but that doesnt mean i won't give it a go.
I downloaded Sonique and desided that I wouldnt work. The skins were more eye candy than functional and the default skin wasnt resizable add that to the fact the playlist sucks and I quickly uninstalled it.
Next i tried WinAmp, its alot better with resizable windows, easy to skin, better use of playlists, keyboard controls i could probably use a remote for, and nice visuals to play on my tv.
I'm not done looking though.
I could still use some help finding a good CD->OGG converter.

I mentioned in my post above..EAC supports Vorbis and is currently the best CD ripper that exists IMO.
It sounds like everything your looking for in a player/jukebox is right around the corner..its name is PowerDivx4;)

Hi,
EAC is the best CD-ripper period - heres the best guide i could find on using it: -> http://www.ping.be/satcp/tutorials.htm
Can't go past winamp meself as far as mp3 players go ..... though i gotta admit i been camping on that proggie for awhile and haven't checked the "competition" out of late.

Alright I'm trying to get EAC to use an external audio compression program but i'm not sure what to do from here. If I was compressing to mp3 then i'd just use AcidLameGui or Besweet to configure the command line options for me and dirrect EAC to the Lame.exe, but here i have no clue what to do. Some more help please? Thanks everyone.

You need to download the Ogg Vorbis encoder which is a part of the tools package here.
http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/download/
File Name- vorbis-tools-1.0rc3.zip
Then you can't point EAC to OggEnc.EXE after you have extracted it;) You might try q3 for your quality settings and this should give you an average bitrate of 112k. You can adjust settings after you do a listening test with the q setting. For more detailed info on the Vorbis quality settings, visit the Hydrogen forums- http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/

"Then you can't point EAC to OggEnc.EXE after you have extracted it"
I downloaded the tools zip and extracted everything but I dont see an .exe file looks more like source code, do i need to compile it to get the .exe? I've taken a couple C and cobol classes but I don't really know that step for doing something like that.
