what good does it do to anyone speculating and spreading rumours about DivX5? Nobody has it so what's there to talk about? Why not sit back patiently, enjoy a cold beer and wait till it's out and then you'll have your hands full encoding anyways?
Not even I have received any binaries yet and what info I do have I cannot share (and it wouldn't be much anyways).
Shouldn't it be the rule to not post if you don't have anything to say? Well, in that matter nobody has anything to say really besides the DXn employees and they're keeping their mouths shut. I'm really getting tired from all these DivX5 threads exploding everywhere on this and on other forums. Please be patient and spend your time doing more productive stuff...

I totally agree. We've seen enought about this "its xxx times better, faster, cheaper and it can take you to the Moon" stuff and afterwards ... desilusion. I don't buy it anymore (although at DivxNetworks are nice guys). When it will come out we'll see how good really is in comparisons. To be frankly I can't wait for XviD vs. DivX5, but since by now we haven't even seen some pre-release or something... We'll wait and see (hopefully not "wait and... wait and... wait an..." - but this is a speculation too).

I'm agree absolute. Only problem is that I can't buy good beer in my place (Heineken is expensive, but not...) :D .

People's enthusiasm will quickly be gone if they know the price of it ...

The price is one problem.
That all those rumours are pure bullshit is the other side.
So stay calm, enjoy your XviD, which is and stays free (for educational purposes), and then we can take a look at "nice people at DXN", which stole public property to sale it *eg*

Very BTW; I've decided some time ago not to choose codecs only based upon performance, but also on their technical and 'social' (i.e. open source preferred) potential. If VP4 would turn out to be a little better than XviD and afterwards DivX5 turned out to be a little better than VP4 and (unlikely as it may be) Corona to be even better, I wouldn't switch, switch, switch, but stay with XviD as I think it is meaningful. Linux-users won't switch to XP, either, just because it's neater and easier etc. etc. Proprietary standards and closed sources are a dead end IMO. I believe in the long run we have a superior concept here with open source and a transparent development that everyone can contribute to. :)

@soujir0u: you speculate in a thread calling everybody to stop speculating? do you do this on purpose?

I don't know what you mean by that. I was referring to ChristianHJW's post "People's enthusiasm will quickly be gone if they know the price of it ..." and I thought that we would have to pay for it (DivX5). Maybe I misunderstood something.
