I want to make backup copies of my DVD's. I have a DVD-RAM/R drive which I want to use. I would like to make a direct copy from DVD to DVD-RAM/R without the extra steps of ripping it first. Is this possible? What software is suggested to use. Also I plan to have a dedicated PC setup as my burner. Which operating system would work best? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Shareware is good but if one program works better than the other I don't mind spending money for reliability.

Thanks,
John

I don't think it is possible to do a direct copy of a DVD due to the copy protection. Ripping to HD removes the protection (using DVDdecrypter) but you also need to make sure that the files you want to burn are less than 4.7Gb. Take a look in the 'IfoEdit' and 'DVD / miniDVD encoding & authoring' categories for more info as well as doom9's guides
