Edges of objects

This is kind of a general question, but I hope someone can enlighten me...

Whenever I watch a completed divx movie, I am happy with the quality except for one small thing. Outlining any object in the movie is an area of blurriness. Inside the objects, the quality is fine, but outlining any object (stationary or moving), there is about a quarter of an inch blurry area. What could be causing this, and is there anyway to minimize/eliminate this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What settings are you using?

Specifically, what resize filter are you using?

Try using a sharper filter....such as Sharp Bicubic.

That should make blurry edges around objects sharper...

resize filters or perhaps really bad edge enhancement are what i can think of ... if the blurry areas looks pixellated then check the dvd on ur monitor ( "normal" tv is blurred enough not too notice it at normal viewing range alot of the time ) and see if the pixellated blurriness is still there, if so the film probably has edge enhancement applied too heavily ( happens all the time ... ) and theres nothing u can do afaik about this ..... just an idea of what it could be.
