Hi!
my Panasonic A 350 and A 360 play DVD-R fine! Even the A 360 play DVD-RW. The problem is the medias which you are using.

Hi!
i have read in a german forum that they are not satisfied with those Princos. I have tried Vivastar from switzerland and there are worse too.
I think the problem are the stand alone players because they do not want this cheap discs. I have never tried princo. Perhaps we should work a compatibility list what medias run in wihich player?
I can say in case of Panasonic A 350/360:
Apple DVD-r
Pioneer DVD-r/rw
work fine
Vivastar und www.cdrecordable.com suck.
Please reply und write down your list!

PS. Perhaps we can all together work out a real list.

Hey Streetcleaner
What do you think about the dvd-r media from esbuy.com.
Witch one do you think is best when talking about price/quality ?
The ESBuy.com Brand, Pioneer or Imported for ESBuy.com ? I know that pioneer are best but too much expensive.

Hi,
my Pioneer DVD 535 plays all the following DVD+RW media:
hp, philips and ricoh (burned with Nero (latest) and RecordMax.
My Philips DVD 612 also plays the 3 media, but only if RecordMax is used to burn it. (burned with Nero, it does not play it !)
Iīm using Win2000 prof. with a Ricoh DVD+RW burner.

Apple media is probably the best quality/price media. You can go to Fry's and buy 5 for $25 (that's $5 a disk). It's costing me more money trying to save a buck. From what I read it's the same manufactuer that makes the Pioneer brand disk. If you notice it says "Made in Japan" like Pioneer's. My experience is that Japan's media are superior than others. I haven't tried CDRecordables and ESBuy.com but I have tried meritline's. I recently bought a 25 pack (I had ordered once before and supposedly there was a price drop) and with almost every single DVD-R I had problems. These are the purple ones. Out of 25 2 worked only because (in my test conclusions)the size burned was less than 3.5gb and burning higer amounts starts having errors. As if the media quality isn't consistent throughout. I tried all the burning software, I have a Pioneer A03 and a Panasonic LF-D311. Well after having 8 discs left I decided to return them. My prior batch was much better. They were "gold" discs and they told me that they are more expensive, but still a good deal.
My standalone is a Pioneer DV-C302D (plays DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs) and a PS2 (plays DVD-Rs but not DVD-RWs).

I saw a forum in vcdhelp.com where a guy said if the media didnīt work we should turn off the player with the dvd-r inside and turn on again with it and this should solve the problem about non-compatible media. What do you think about this, have you guys tried somehow. I'm asking this cause in my player everything works and I wanna to know this from you so I could warn some guys to do this when confronting with this problem.

THe EsBuy Media is really good, I had a few of there gold discs and they work really well on the PS2 as opposed to the meritline media witch works great on settop but skips like crazy on PS2, The playstation 2 is something really good to test your media on, b/c its about as crappy as it gets for DVD players.
