Hi,

It's pretty easy, actually.

1) Find source video for DivX 3.11 movies. Usually a dvd of a movie.

2) Re-encode using DivX 4.xx

Voila!!

For reencoding the avi use Virtual Dub
(but reencoding the source will result in better quality)

Ps.:
- Open avi with virtual Dub
- Audio=>Direct Stream Copy
- Video=>Fast Recompress
- Video=>Comopression=> Select your prefered DivX4 settings
- File=>Save as avi
- wait => finished

Why on earth would you want to reencode something done in 3.11 to 4.x?
You get no decrease in filesize, worse quality and you can view the 3.11 clip perfectly well with the 4.x codec installed - so why do it?

Just leave your file as it is.

and you can view the 3.11 clip perfectly well with the 4.x codec installed
except that you wont hear audio if it was in divx format.......... :cool:

you can first install divx 3.11, so the audio codec will be installed and then install divx 4.12 and let it decode the divx3 video, that works perfectly for me:)
