Hi everyone, this is my first attempt using Gknot .23. I've been using flask for quite a while now, but not too happy with the output quality.

I finally ripped my first movie using gknot (Best in Show), but am having problems. After following all the directions, I end up 3 different files (movie, end credits, and sound (mp3)). Is Gknot supposed to append all 3 files together, or am I supposed to do this separately in another program?

This is what Gknot wan "planning to do:"

2/22/2002 4:41:37 PM: Job "Best in Show" started.

o Transcode AC3 -> MP3: D:\DVD VOBS\Best in Show\Best in Show AC3 T01 3_2ch 384Kbps DELAY -83ms.ac3
o DivX4-Single, Quality 50%: D:\DVD VOBS\Best in Show\Best in Show_Credits.avs
o DivX4-First Pass: D:\DVD VOBS\Best in Show\Best in Show.avs
o DivX4-Second Pass: D:\DVD VOBS\Best in Show\Best in Show.avs
o Append Credits.
o Delete Intermediate Files.
End of Job 2 (Best in Show).

It did everything except the append credits, delete intermdiate files and the combining of the sound.

I wasn't sure there is a specific order you have to follow in (e.g. set up video (divx tab) before audio (audio tab) or vice versa. Does that matter?

Last question on sound.. The only thing that I didn't follow was to type in the parameters for Azid as said in the Gknot guide.

-z1 -b1 -c normal -L -3db
--alt-preset 128

Whenever I did that, I got this:

13:35:16 Audio 1, disabled, no recalc.
you probably want to add this track later
13:35:16 Audio 1, calculated 115640 kb

With that problem, I just used the default parameters of:

-L -3db -c normal
-h --abr 128

Is there a difference between them?

Thanks a lot guys!

Doom9's guides recommends you install Lame 3.91. The "--alt-preset" parameter is new with Lame 3.9, and ... GKnot's Lame is older. That's why Doom9's guide recommends installing a newer version of Lame. You must have missed that step.

Thanks, that's probably what happened. I installed the newer version and everything is peachy!
