View Full Version : Encoded audio pitch too low converting from 30fps to 25fps

Converting from Divx4 with mp3 audio @48khz. Resulting svcd encodes fine, audio is in sync but voices have gone down 1 or 2 octaves.
So i have a stupid question - is there another step i can introduce to resample the extracted wav to keep the pitch (like pause operation, use something like cooledit to resample, then continue with encoding)? Or is there a setting within avi2svcd i've missed?

Either that, or i stop trying to be so damn spoiled and actually do some manual steps rather than using this cool app :)
Cheers

Hi Lint Ninja,

have you already tried to set audio to 48kHz in "Audio" tab? - I think the pitch shifting is caused by the upsampling of the audio to the default of "128" kHz - but don't know for sure (DSPguru might help!?). ;)

So try with 48kHz Audio setting as your source is already 48kHz and it should not gain any improvement with 128kHz.

Greetings,
Gerti

Tried changing to 48khz, and also changing the bitrate - none have any effect - still the same low pitched voices.
Only audio setting i haven't found is the toolame mode - just going to quickly try it

Tried all settings for audio now - no joy :(
Is there anything else i should be trying?

i guess u tried downsamling to 44.1
im not familiar with divx with dvd2svcd but i have had the problem once with a dvd and downsampling fixed it for me.
