Question 1: I thought CCE SP was the expensive program. How can it be that I can download it for free, does it imbed a logo or only encode for a certain amount of time or something?

Question 2: If I were to encode something in CCE at a constant bitrate (I would never do that but...read on) what would be the maximum bitrate my DVD player can handle. I remember doing a video clip at like 8000 and testing it, and my DVD player could not keep up with it. I'm assuming it changes for every DVD player, but I'm wondering if anyone has done a bunch of tests just to see what the standard DVD player can handle?

Question 3: Has anyone tried making an SVCD out of a DVD. In other words, Has anyone filled up a 4.7gig DVD(yeah...all you rich people out there have em, I know it :> ) with an mpeg-2 compatible file(480x480 29.97fps etc) in SVCD format? I'd like to know if this works, because I want to start making my SVCD files really big and just storing them for a year until I get a DVD drive(Let's here it for 245 gigs of space). I assume it does...I mean a DVD is just a BIG CD! he he.

hi, i can help you
q1: yes indeed, CCE SP puts a nasty logo on the bottom right of the screen the whole movie, of course we are talking here if you are using the trial version.
q2: please go to www.vcdhelp.com and search through the big dvdplayers databas if your dvdplayer supports more than just the normal svcd bitrate. if it does not specify you what is the max bitrate your player is not compatible with more than just the normal bps.
q3: i think no, but i think it's ridiculous. instead, rip the dvd, wait a year, and burn it in a dvd??? it does not make sence of making a svcd on a dvd...

thanks for your help.

In repsonse to the third question:
The reason being is that a DVD has 1/3 more resolution which would require a higher bitrate to get the same quality(not much, but some). An SVCD has the same quality as a DVD(practically) and rather have 2, 2gig movie files in SVCD format that would be higher qualirty than 2 DVD formats at 720x480. I don't think I explained that very well because I'm in a hurry. But its just a matter of personal preference I soppose.
