just started to backup american werewolf in london r4 pal.
using dvd2svcd an error kept popping up saying that the language selected was not available.
i had english selected as always for my preferences yet the error message stated that enlish was the only one available.
so i ripped the dvd with smartripper and then piped thru internal routines.
no language error was reproduced.
might be something in the disk format perhaps.
just info for anyone else backing this disk up.
(d2s 106 b4, cant d/l 107 yet)

same here. though dvd of different title. I've got russian dvds wich have many language tracks and dvd2svcd can't rip them. I use smartripper too.
It's either limitation of dvd2svcd or bad dvd authoring.

Do NOT I repeat NOT use Smartripper. It does a terrible job of ripping the right streams (well, in the latest versions anyway). Always if possible use the internal ripping routines.

dvd2svcd
i think that was my point
i couldnt use internal routines or vstrip because of the langauage error that popped up
otherwise I would have done so like i always do.

When exactly do you get the error? When loading the ifo, when it analyzes the subtitles or when it's being extracted?

ill re-run the inital encode stage after my present encode is finished and let you know exactly when it occurs
im pretty sure it popped up with the error as soon as a clicked on the 'conversion' tab
ill let you know
this is the only time it has ever occured for me so i suspect the dvd has some strange language information format on it...

the error occurs as soon as i press the disk button on the conversion tab

"error
No audio stream matches the selected audio languages!
The following Audio Languages is avaialable:

English"

then i press 'ok'
then it takes me to the audio tab
i check that english is set in audio 1 priority 1
(which is the only selection i make)
then i press the conversion tab and it comes up with the same error message

update:
just found the problem
manually selected the second largest .ifo file and its works normally
not sure what the largest ifo file is used for but its slightly larger than the second largest one on this dvd

i should have thought of this before
:stupid:

kairat you might want to check your russian dvds and see if the largest ifo file is the incorrect one...

??? hmmm, sorry pal but I didn't get it.

DVD2SVCD
I didn't have probs with Smartripper, does it job very well.
I was getting exatly same errors as xrv1138. Didn't go as far as xrv1138 to figure out work around with dvd2svcd, just switched to smartripper. I'll try the workaround suggested by xrv1138.

What's the problem Smartripper exactly? Could you elaborate?
