Hello there.

I don't rip dvd's (havent got round to it yet) but have started to use nandub to convert my picvideo mjpeg captures with brilliant results. But i am envious of gknot users, with compression testing, quicker processing (takes me 24 hours with nandub for both passes!) and the like.
I looked at the avi guide, but it looked massively complicated to me to do.
So, pretty plesase, when will native avi support be implemented?

Thanks

AVI will probably be supported in the next version, that will be available when it is ready. IMHO it will need a massive addition to make it work with both DVD and AVI so don't expect it in the near future.

In the meantime you can use GKnot to create modified stats and ECF's, calculate what resolution that you should use, etc. The things that doesn't work are previews and automatic encoding.
And if you want to take advantage of AVISynth then find a sample script here and change the sourceloading from MPEG2Source("<path>\file.d2v")toAVISource("<path>\file.avi")
ConvertToYUY2()

Thanks for the speedy reply. The scripting advice was a little over my head, but i have looked at some avisynth guides (for the first time) and it seems reasonably straightforward.
Thanks again, now i have a whole new way to filter and prepare files, lots more enjoyable messing about to be done!
