Hi everybody:)
I am new to this forum and I have a problem, here goes
I have ripped only the movie files to HDD using DVD Decrypter
VTS_01_0.ifo (84kb)
VTS_01_1.vob (104828kb)
VTS_01_2.vob (ditto)
VTS_01_3.vob (ditto)
VTS_01_4.vob (ditto)
Then opened ifoedit (v.87)loaded "VTS_01_0.ifo,
hit "Vob extra's" button
checked all boxes apart from Remux and Re Build PTS,
selected destination dir to "D;\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB
Hit OK
next screen displays Audio Streams + Sub Picture
as I did not want any sub picture I just selected the audio stream
"Audio 1 English" (Dolby AC3 6 chnl (ID 0x80))
ensured "correct IFO tables" was checked (done by default)
and hit the "strip it" button
Next screen displays all availble VOB id's (all 2 of them) selected both
checked "correct ifo tables"
then hit the "strip it" button
IFO Edit then goes into the processing stage
after a while it flags up the message "error opening D:\JURASSIC_PARK III\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.ifo seems it doesn't exist"
hit the ok button and ifo edit starts to change VOB navigation packs
for the VTS_01_x.vobs
after a while I get the message "finished correcting VOBU pointers"
If I now look in the folder D:\VIDEO_TS
I have the following files
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
This where I now get slightly confused:(
Do I now load VTS_01_0.ifo into ifo edit and hit "get VTS sectors"
or do I load "VIDEO_TS.ifo and hit "Get VTS sectors"

I have tried "Get vts sectors" with VTS_01_0.ifo loaded and saved it
and then burned to DVDRW using Prassi PrimoDVD2.0
by adding 2 folders to the files/folder window (AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS)
no other files or folders, done a test burn on PIONEER DVDRW media
which tests ok so I then burn to the DVDRW ok

The resulting disk palys in the burner ok using Power DVD V3.00
but when I try the disk in my standalone (Pioneer DV717) it won't play? (according to VCD helper.com it should be able to play DVDRW's and DVDr's)
I have also tried burning the files to pioneer DVDr with the same result

I am burning the disk on a Pioneer DVR Ao3 (firmware 1.68)

can someone point out what or where I am going wrong
Thnx

I'm right around the same point that you are in learning all of this, I just got my burner last week and have been religously trying to burn a working backup of crouching tiger hidden dragon. I fell in the same hole you did by updating the vts sectors for vts_1...didnt work in my Apex either. I went back, and started with older ifo's again, and selected the get vts sectors in the Video_TS_ifo, and burned it. (luckily my player accepts dvd-rw, so I've just been re-writing on the same disc continuely). In any case, it worked then, that was yesterday...today I'm trying to figure out why I lost my chapter and track navigation controls, I can't even fast forward or rewind in it now!

I figured it out in the end but it is wierd?
I have tried "Get vts sectors" with VTS_xx_x.ifo loaded and saved it
then when everything is done I use the "create disk image" function and burn the DVDr as a an image and it works fine.

If I load VIDEO_TS.ifo and then get VTS sectors and save it it won't burn with prassi (ejects the disk with errors)

This is the EXACT problem I am having,

The files i end up burning to the DVD are
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_01_5.VOB

Those are all in a VIDEO_TS Directory

and then there is also an empty AUDIO_TS Directory.

I can play it in powerdvd with the video_ts.ifo file with chapter all works. I burn it. It works in power dvd again as a dvd.

but it will not work in my Pioneer standalone DVD player. I have created one that will, and It had a VTS_01_0.VOB and a VIDEO_TS.VOB. I dont necessarily want those files in this compilation. is that what is wrong. Are they REQUIRED files? Is there any way around this? Bangin my head against a wall here.

No, they are not required.

All you guy's have, are wrong start sectors. That's all.

So please, before burning. re-start IfoEdit for all case, load any of your new IFOs, and press 'Get VTS Setors' to correct all start sectors.

And then use the Image-Button to create a image file for burning.
You can use any burning tool, except Nero.
After burning you will have a perfect working DVD-R in all settop players!

I have a philips 951,too.
All you need is to put a little fake-video_ts.vob file in the folder->ifoedit->get vts_sectors and the disc will make autostart in the player. Had the same problem with mine.
If this doesn´t help (and it MUST!!!) then you must make before burning an image-file with the image-tool from CouJo.
Burn it on a Pioneer DVD-RW V1.1 and this should solve your problems.
btw. princo dvd-rw doesn´t work in the 951 but in the 712 philips standalone.
:D
