creating vcd from svcd

Anyone know how I can create a vcd fron a svcd disc?
I got hold of a couple of svcd discs, but my dvd player (jvc xv-s42) doesn't support svcd so I want to make vcd's from these discs...
Don't know where to start though...... any help would be much appreciated.
