Because of the big interest ( :D ) from many coders to contribute to MCF we decided to go sourceforge with it. The project was registered today under a L-GPL license.

The URL will be http://MediaContainer.sourceforge.net/ !

Please forgive me the name but it had to be a max 15 chars name and i thought using 'MCF' only doesnt tell the people ( probably coders who want to contribute ) reading that anything ... as i couldnt find a good combination with MCF and MediaContainer i decided to go for the one named above.

Sourceforge say they will come back to us within 72 hours, so you should expect the site being up and running until Monday the latest.

As requested by Tronic the license for the format and the project is 'L-GPL', i just hope we dont get any problems from using this license as normally using the library should be possible from non-GPL programs also ?

Success !! I got the reply from sourceforge we're accepted !! The URL as given above should be active in the next few hours !

I added Tronic as admin and RoBux4 as developer already, seems as if they are not unknown at sourceforge ;) . I added Nic also but i somehow feel this is not my Nic :( ?? Or are you active on developing a mail server project ??

Please, if there any more coders who want to participate PM me here and give me your nick at sourceforge, so i can add you.

Lets get this moving !!

"Can be burnt to CD-R in mode 2 form 2, allowing you to put 15% more data on a disc"

This feature may be the compelling reason that I would adopt this format in leiu of the great progress that Ogg has made....hmm...so on a 99min cdr..that would get me ~1gb of data....:D

The url will change very soon to http://mcf.sourceforge.net

Yep, Blacksun is correct !

Tronic didnt like my UNIX project name for it, being 'mediacontainer' ... so registered the project a 2nd time, this time with UNIX name 'MCF' .

I am sales and marketing guy and no coder, so i thought 'mediacontainer' is more self explaining .... but whatever is necessary to get MCF moving is fine for me :D ..

Update :

The CVS tree is growing !! Until Tronic's new project with the shorter project name is registered by sourceforge the development is done at the current project name 'mediacontainer' .

ingoralfblum ( we're so happy we have him back ) and Tronic are already busy uploading to the CVS tree .... again, if any other coders would like to join, simply send me a PM.

The portation from one sourceforge project to the next shouldnt be any problem and be finished on monday ...
