View Full Version : Scenarist – Playing in different orders!

Ok, I know that you can program the same movie to be played in different orders by selecting different chapters. I’m wondering is it possible to program it only by time? I want an option to play a video in a different order but I don’t want to necessarily put chapters at those points. Unless it’s possible to put chapters that are invisible in the other play list! What about Maestro?

In Maestro you can set chapter points where ever you like and you do not have to make a menu that refers to it. To set the play order all you have to do is assign the End setting for each chapter.
Example:
Movie has 5 chapters, I want to play them in the order of 4, 3, 5, 2, 1
In Maestro assign the end of each chapters to goto the next chapter you want to play so:
Set the First Play to 4, End of 4 goto 3, End of 3 goto 5, End of 5 goto 2, End of 2 goto 1, & End of 1 goto menu.
You can change these settings in the "Connection" setting tab of Maestro.

Yes but I want one option to play 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and another option to play it in 1.5, 3, 2.35, 4, 5.1. You cannot use the end connection but you have to use playlist (if I wanted to play the exact same chapters in just different order). But again I don’t want to put chapter points every where because when the user hits the next chapter on his remote, the player is going to jump to them!

I want to put 8 Video tracks on a DVD, make several identical discs and then play the tracks back in different orders or even Randomly. Using Reel DVD, I cannot make a disc that allows me to use the programming function on my Pioneer standalone. Is this a limitation of the DVD-R General disc format ? Or is there something I am not doing ?
Is this possible using Scenarist or Maestro ? Help gratefully acknowleged.

Jimi - it is the limitation of ReelDVD. You can't do any advanced authoring with it.
Maestro has a playlist editor. You can make your standalone to do what ever you like.

Atlantis - with Scenarist Command Sequence. It isn't a click and go operation. Random Value Stores in the GPRM the value in a randomly selected GPRM or the value of a random number.
You can do the same with Maestro.

wow, you're a little ahead of me here...
What's GPRM ? Atlantis ? Would Maestro 2912 or 4 handle it ?
It seems like I need to study... Do you have links to any documents/tutorials ?

SPRM -> System Parameter Memory ->for Menu Language Descriptin Code, Audio stream number, Subpicture stream number etc. Is like your Bios in your PC.
GPRM -> Generel Parameter Memory-> Memory location available in DVD player to store a Command Sequence for later use by any other Command Sequence. It is like Ram in your PC.
Can't you just make a simple DVD with simple menu navigation? Hollywood didn't use the Title button for several years because they didn't know what the title button was.

Thanks for that.
I really need to be able to program the player to play the clips in different orders - and sometimes miss some out - as seamlessly as possible and with no menus visible on screen.
Grateful for advice.

Is any logic in the random play order? Is it a DVD play action in loop?
OK,
Use Maestro Connections and Playlist editor to set up a not to easy to follow playback order.
It's all without scripting.
Otherwise Scenarist manual 12.2.2.

It is important to be able to program different sequences into the player but not random, deliberately chosen each time to show, maybe, just 2 of the movies for example.
I can't understand why the program feature on my playback will not be enabled and allow me to choose the tracks to play...
Thanks for your help, I'll read up on Maestro.

http://www.guygraphics.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?s=3c7b7fdf78a1ffff;act=ST;f=31;t=293 You have tied the same as I can see.
The only way is Command Sequences. You have ReelDVD. Export the project to Scenarist and read from 12.2.2.
