I noticed that there is a new version of the 2.64 floating around (in fact there are two new versions) with profound apologies on the first release where the multipass vbr was not functional.

I am particularly interested if the 33%, 66% freeze issue is fixed. I know the video encoding is different in 2.62 since the VAF files between versions are incompatble.

2.64 last I heard is an unstable beta. It is definately not recomended for DVD2SVCD. It has been tested by the author and found to be a very troublesome version.

Yep, I read that. The author of the patch admitted to a stuff up on the version. The new version is supposed to fix the instability. There is also a second author now.

Or are you saying that the unpatched version was a problem and is still unlikely to be fixed.

All I know is that 2.64 is not officially supported or blessed.
2.50 is as the normal option and
2.62 is using safe mode only.
2.64 new version you are talking about may work, but it has not been tested or blessed by the author and if it does only in safe mode.
