Hi turluson,

that sure depends on you - you know: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

As a first start for you here is a thread that might interest you:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14793

For further infos on the best bicubic values and so on try to use the "search" button of the forum and use the words "bicubic AND value" for example, there are a lot of threads on that - but they can't make the decision for you.

Try on your own - encode just a little chapter and try different values - then use the ones that you prefer.

But to come back to your topic - if you have done some test you would sure change it in this way:

"3-pass VBR with bilinear or 4-pass VBR with bicubic?" ;)

Greetings,
Gerti

P.S. I use 4-pass VBR with bicubic 0.00/0.60 CCE 17/2 for best quality and 4-pass VBR with simple CCE 17/3-4 for speed/quality compromise :)

thanks for your answer gerti67... Does any of these filters can affect the quality of the image in action scene or it's just affect the texture. Because sometimes I've got some multicolors squares for a few seconds in the movie and I ear some high pitched sounds !!!

Hi francis,

multicolor squares and disturbed sound is almost always a sign of a to high burn speed (try 4x) and/or a bitrate that is too high for the DVD drive of the standalone in those high action scenes where a high bitrate is needed. (In this case try to lower the Max and the Max avg. a little bit).

Hope that helps,
Gerti

P.S. Temporal Smoother could perhaps help a little with those high action scenes but be aware the encoding speed will decrease by about 40% with it turned on

Ok thanks for the tips...! I will burn at 4x instead of 6x. By the way I've do some quality image test with the same chapter with different resize method and for me too, the best quality for my eyes ;) is Bicubic resize 0.00-0.60 , cce 4-pass 17-2 ! thanks again :)
