I'm new to the doom9 forums, so I don't know if this question has been answered before, but here goes...

I am attempting to encode Enemy Of The State using GKnot 0.23 beta using Divx 4.12. I followed the guide on www.doom9.org/gknot.htm (only the divx 4 parts) to the letter. When I start the first pass in VirtualDub, the status box says the file will only be about 4.5 megs. After letting the encoding finish (which took about 11 hours), I had a really small avi file (somewhere under 4.5 megs), and the file would not open in WMP. When I opened the .stats file, I got an error about needing to recalculate the bitrate, and the Bits/(Pixel*Frame) box had all red boxes. The box that should read somewhere around .20 said something in the area of 120, and the box that should read around 70% read somewhere around 20000%. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated

System Specs:
AMD Thunderbird 1.4 Ghz
Abit KG7 Mobo
256 megs PC2100 RAM
ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder 8500DV
etc,etc

The guide u linked is only for divx3.11 encoding only.
if u do a search for the word divx4 on that page you should see a message telling u to go back to the divx4 guide.

when using dix4, you should not open any stat files, and the avi file created by the first pass is unusable because, it should not be used for anything.
