I've ripped a DVD using DVDDecrypter 3. This DVD contains three episodes of a TV series. I've got the IFO and the VOBs on the HD. I've successfully encoded many single title movies this way (or using SmartRipper). This time I'd like to use Gordian Knot to create three different DivX4 AVIs (at three different average bitrates, since their durations differ quite a bit). The problem is that I don't know how to set it up to encode just part of the "movie".

FlaskMPEG can parse the IFO and correctly recognizes the three titles, but I'd like to use DivX4. I think that had I used SmartRipper instead I might have created three different directories each containing an episode's VOBs. Unfortunately I don't have the DVD anymore: now I'm left with the VOBs and IFO.

I was thinking about manually modifying the VirtualDub scripts to specify the correct frame range (I can find it using FlaskMPEG), but I'd like to get some expert advice before wasting many hours...

Summing up:
1) I ripped one DVD using DVDDecrypter and now I have the VOBs and IFO on my HD (not the DVD anymore)
2) The VOBs contain 3 titles of different durations
3) I'd like to encode them using DivX4 and GordianKnot to get 3 separate AVIs at 3 different bitrates

How can I do it?

Thanks!

I'm trying to use 'trim' in the .avs file. Not sure what to do with the MP3 though: I'll use azid and lame and end up with a single, big MP3. Then I'll need to cut it (CoolEdit?) and hopefully there won't be any sync issues... We'll see

Any suggestions are still welcome, of course

I ended up using vStrip for the first time and it seems to be able to do what I'm looking for.

use SmartRipper's stream processing. rip each episode into a separate file, and encode them that way.

Hi,

You can also use dvd2avi to do this. Just set the start/stop sliders to where you want to and save project.

The resulting encode you make from this project file (speaking of Gknot here) will be just the episode you want, and you can rip dvd normally without messing with Stream Processing or anything in Smartripper.

Did this with great success with X-files and Sopranos episodes...
