Hi! When i use TMPGenc to convert avi2mpeg i get an error message after approximately 70% that says "Illegal floating decimal point calculation order". What does it mean? I have tried stream type "video only" but i get the same massage. Or can enyone recommand other avi2mpg program with good quality result?

Hej,

Jag har precis samma problem som du ibland.

I have the exact same problem from timt to time. 9 out of 10 conversions of DivX AVI-files works like a charm and then suddenly one of the refuses to encode and comes up with this message also.

Could anyone please post a suggestion to this problem.

Thanks,
/ Parkmaul

Try altering the setting you have for "Use Floating Point DCT" - i.e. if it's ticked, untick it, and if it's unticked, tick it. Just a suggestion...

I´ve tried "unticking" the box you mention. It doesn´t work.

HOWEVER, I have come up with an alternate solution;
Write down the framenumber where this happpens and simple save the first part of the MPEG up to that point where it stopped as MPEG clip 1, and then manually start a second part of the videoclip by manually setting the start framenumber right after the "problematic frame" and end frame at the very end of the clip.
Downside with this is you get 2 separate MPEGs for 1 AVI-file. Also, you will of course loose a few frames of the original video but if it´s only a few frames you will hardly notice it when watching the clip later.

And if you burn the MPEG-files in Nero using the SVCD-template simply add all clips you would like and enter "0 seconds" gap between the clips. When you play the SVCD on your DVD you will hardly notice the switch from the first 2 the 2nd clip.

Problem solved! Enjoy.

PS. Patrik, jag hoppas att du får det att fungera på detta sätt.

Use AVIDub to "scan" the AVI file for unreadable frames. My guess is a corrupt frame. you can use VDUB or NanDub. Load the video, click>video>scan video for errors. If the program crashes try to remember the last frame number you saw. Relaunch the program. Scroll to the keyframe before and scan forward one scene at a time until the program gives you an error. go to the keyframe before the corrupt frame, and go forward, frame by frame, to the frame before the corrupted frame. Mark this as the end point. Direct stream copy both audio and video. Save it as file1.avi. Now go to the next key frame, and mark it as the in point. Scroll to the end of the file and mark this as out point. Direct stream copy as file2.avi. Now load file1.avi. and "append" with file2.avi. Start over. Keep repeating until the scan completes with no errors. Good Luck!!
