What will influence the size of the coded avi file?
Only the bit rate? or
The bitrate and the resolution as well?
If so, why the resolution is not considered during the calculation of bitrate?
To me the second choice is logical, because higher resolution means more informations that takes more space but the bitrate calculation...???

well, if you set a bitrate, size wont go above
could go below thought.

over than res many factors influences the "right" size

Thanks for the prompt answer. For testing it would be nice if I could have a fraction of the original vob files. How can I make only several frame from vob file using DVD2avi or other application?

Thanks

Hi,

You can make an dvd2avi file using only a portion of the movie. Use the "(" and ")" keys to set your start and stop points.

Be warned, however, that using only a portion from a movie will not give an accurate representation of the way the entire movie will compress or look.

Try out Gordianknot. It has a compressibility check option that takes a sample of frames from the entire movie, providing a much more accurate representation of the movie and how well it will compress.
