I am just beginning my quest with capture, but my files are created ONLY for view on TV. With that being said, I should avoid doing any IVTC???

thanks

Well, if you plan to store the video uncompressed, or if you're using a compression schema that does one field at a time, this may be the way to go. However none of MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 are such schemas afaik, so an IVTC will probably dramatically increase the picture quality of your finished video, by avoiding encoding frames made from the top field of one source frame and the bottom field of another source frame. FYI, the tmpg autoivtc is much better now in version 2.02. I've had good results with it, much more so than with the 12 beta series. Good luck.

Um, MPEG-2 CAN store pictures field by field. It doesn't always do it, even when it should, and sometimes when it shouldn't.
