I got a funny message using DVD2avi with Gknot 0.23. :D
Everything was fine until I format my HD and install XP. Now I can’t open dvd2avi projects with Gknot anymore. “"File is not a valid DVD2AVI Project (v.1.76, YUV2)"
I’ve checked the version, this is still 1.76 (the one which comes along Gknot 0.23). I haven’t change anything (I think!) since last time I perfectly encoded under W’98 SE…
:( Where am I wrong?
nb: I've read and tried most of the solutions posted here...

Had the same problem once.
Just make another .d2v project and you should be fine.

 Sorry Guy for crossposts !!!
But as no one seemed to have the answer in the basic forums, I've also posted in the "advanced" one. I've read all the topics about d2v projects, and none of them explains what's wrong. I've tried to compile the project at least 3 times!!!
Any idea?
NB: don't forget :stupid:

That's not a problem. But remember of the forum rules. Some people may not be as polite as I am ;)
Try installing every application separately - install dvd2avi separately - download it from this site and see if it helps...

I had the same problem after adding a new HD, repartitioning and changing OSs.
Check the following:
1. open the d2v file with a normal text editor and make sure the absolute drive/path entries are correct.
2. make sure that your partition drives are continuously lettered (i.e. C,D,E,F,G,H, etc. and not C,D,E,H,I,J)
3. make sure the CD/DVD drive is the last lettered drive (i.e. if you have drives C,D,E,F,G make sure that the CD drive is G)
4. if you still get this error, make a new d2v project
After checking these things I didn't get anymore errors.
Hope this helps.

I'll try your tips. Thx a lot.
3. make sure the CD/DVD drive is the last lettered drive (i.e. if you have drives C,D,E,F,G make sure that the CD drive is G)
that sounds strange 'cos my dvd drive has never been the last letter...

I have the same problem.
First I thought win2k causes the bug, but it's the same with win xp.

Are you absolutely sure the paths in your d2v file are correct (your drive letters did not change after reinstall) AND you are using the same version of dvd2avi as before?

I don't know what kind of error it is, but it should work if you do it this way:
- Open GKnot and click on the button to open DVD2AVI (do NOT open Dvd2avi through the Windows menu)
- Follow the guide provided by GKnot (F3 --> F4...)
- And do NOT close any windows...
Then it should work.
I had the same problem, but on this way it works...

Sometimes strange things happen. The truth is outhere in some case. I'm fed up with GKnot for the moment. I'll use VFAPI or AVSTool...
I'm so sad
