There seem to be some bugs in there as Acaila had been pointing out here : http://www.powerdivx.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=108&start=45 .

It apparently doesnt show on all machines and Tobias is looking into it now. Anybody with similar problems please report here !

could you ask tobias to also look in here every once in a while.. you got some very dedicated beta testers over at powerdivx but the bulk of potential users hangs out here...

No need to "play", just visit the link:

is it just me or does the subtitle filter always enlarge the picture to 640x480 even if there are no subs (and no ogg media stream and/or ogg audio present)?

haven't noticed anything last night to be honest...

Will try more movies and follow up

You are right. Currently the image is always amplified to 4:3 ratio. The problem is that I have to decide the format before the playback runs and therefore I do not know if the subtitle pin will still be connected or not. Maybe I can solve this with dynamic format changes.

Anyway the overhead for amplifying the image is very low.

I will publish a new version in the next days and do some intensive testing (especially with the old non XP video renderer)

Best regards,
Tobias

Just tested it...

My 16:9 test file played normally with/without subtitles at 16:9.

I am using WinXP so probably that's the source of the problem.

@tobias: great to have you here. Having subtitle positioning like in vobsub would be great. btw.. what is ogg.dll for? it's a rather old dll.. windows locked it when I tried to install the latest ds filters and I had to use the recovery console to get rid of it before installing the new filters (even though it appears to be the same file in all filter releases so ignoring it would've done the trick, too).

@everwicked: I didn't say they don't play as they should.. but if you check the res: it's always 640x480 (maybe all the clips I tried are 640x.. but they definitely aren't 480pixels high.. usually 272 or 352). I'm also on xp ;)

@Doom9
OggDS.dll comes along with ogg.dll, vorbis.dll and vorbisenc.dll

Ogg.dll is the original library from xiph, who invented the Ogg format for vorbis. I did just an adaption to store other contents in this stream format.
You will need these DLL to work with OggDS

In XP they might be locked if you opened with explorer a directory containing videos. In XP you should install updates immediately after rebooting.

Best regards,
Tobias

Ok, the problems i've ran into with the new subremux filter are the following.

3. Avi hangs after stop.

As I said, everything played normally for me, i.e. no movies played 480 pixels high...

After installing the Ogg Subtitle Mixer filter v1.0.0.0, half of my DivX 3.11 files (with cbr mp3 audio) do not play any more, just a black thing with only the audio playing. It doesn't happen to all DivX 3.11 videos, though... If I try to get the DivX 3.11 properties page from Zoom Player, I get an "access violation at address 6464B580 in module DivX_c32.ax. Read of address FFFFFFFF" error. I also noticed that some of my DivX 4 videos now look greenish and they are terrible with huge macroblocks. As soon as I unregistered the filter, everything is smooth and fine again. It seems that Tobias has still a bit of work with it. OS is WinME english.

I'll also check the new v0.9.8.3 Ogg Vorbis filter to see if the "play, timeseek, stop, exit, error in vorbis.dll" bug with WMP that was constantly happening with v0.9.8.2 has been fixed.

Acaila was reporting the same, his OS is Win98SE ... he got it working, dont know what his workaround was, you may PM him here.

No, I didn't get it fixed.

Tobias explained it had something to do with the "older" video renderer of anything older than WinXP....

He said he'd probably have it fixed by the end of this week. In the meantime just uninstall the DSF and you can watch your videos again.

He advised everyone who's not running WinXP to not install the Subtitle DSF.

Has anyone tried encoding something with decomb 3.1 after installing these 2 new DS filters? Avisynth has started throwing me exceptions all of the sudden.

Nope. WMP (and Zoom Player and ATI File Player) still hang up when exiting after doing a timeseek .

So, is this a confirmed OggDS bug or am I doing something terribly wrong?

Hi,

small glitch, no real bug:

OggDS registers *.OGM for media player - but what's about *.ogm?

Just cosmetic, but odd :)

Koepi

I tried again with the same vorbis audio and WMP 6.4, 7 and ZP 2.50 beta1 that used to crash when using the v0.9.8.2 filters. No prob whatsoever for me with the .3 version :p

HI!

After i installed the lates DSfilter and i changed the extension to *.ogm(tried *.OGM too) the files are not register i cant doubleclick and it plays i Mplayer i have to change it manual.
Why dont my subs kick in when i have a Oggmovie renamed to *.avi and the vobsubbs have the same name as the movie and in the same folder?
Is there some way to disable the Oggsubtitlefilter when i want to watch my old Avi's with vobsubbs?
Hope there will be support for vobsubbs in a Oggcontainer in the future

Thanks

And again shall I remain as the messenger of dire news :D

I also can't get VobSubs to function no matter what I try. When I had just my DivX 4 video stream in AVI container the subtitles worked great, but when I muxed the video with Vorbis audio to OGG container, subtitles won't work anymore. DVobSub icon appears on the task bar but subtitles just won't show.

Hmm. I wonder if it's possible to convert VobSubs to .srt format because I no longer have the original VOBs to rip the subtitles from..?

Doom9
19th February 2002, 17:03
yeah, that's a problem. if you register the subtitle filter it will monopolize subtitle playback and vobsub can no longer be used... to be honest, I kinda feared there would be frictions between ogg and vobsub in this area. The nice thing about the ogg subs is that you can have multiple streams without too much overhead since the sources are srt files, but on the other hand vobsub offers many more options, also supports multiple languages if you use the native vobsub format and it has proven to be stable over many revisions...

I also have some trouble selecting different subs tracks. Maybe vobsub can be integreated into ogg in some way to get the best of both worlds.

Can anyone else create and watch multi lang avis after having UNinstalled just the sub filter? Cause i sure can't.

Check out version 2.09, of VobSub! You can edit an .idx file with SubResynch and save as .srt (or other text based subtitle-format) and it will OCR the original sub (like SubRip). :)

It seems that all of my movies now start up with black borders top and bottom...they are all 640x480 now as they used to be 640x272. Even avi files with no subtitles have the subtitle mixer filter active in wmp 6.4. The subtitle mixer is obviously doing this to the files.

Hello.
I have Win2k SP2, after installing the subtitle DS filter i got this message with only DivX4+AC3 avi :
The operation cannot be performed because the pins are not connected. (Error=80040209)
The other divx are correctly played.

After removing the subDS filter. Everything is perfect again.

Good luck with improving it.

I downloaded the latest OggDSfilter released today and now both the vobsubbs with AVI's and movies with Oggcontainer(with subbs) work nice.
Thats great!

HI!

I have the latest Ogg DSfilter but it dont register the new extension
*.ogm,what can i do?

Is this the future extension of Oggcontainers so i can burn my movies safely?

TobiasWaldvogel
21st February 2002, 17:52
.ogm is registered for use with DirectShow. This means that any program using DirectShow is capable of playing them. But it is not registered with a specific program. Therefore you have to choose a program when you do a double click the first time. (You may choose e.g. MediaPlayer or PowerDivx whatever you prefer).

But it is safe to use this extension. It will definitly work. And when you start Windows Media Player you will notice that it disaply .ogm files without changing to all files first.

Tobias

This is related to dynamic format changes from RGB -> YUV2 and is a known issue. Please be patient until weekend. I will release a new version this weekend which shoudn't have all these problems any more.

Best regards,
Tobias

P.S. The reason why it worked with other one is, I suppose, that the width is aligned to 32

Finally I've finished the new version of the subtitle mixer
It is available at http://www.stud.fernuni-hagen.de

Changes / New features:
- It works :) (Also with non XP renderer)
- It doesn't change the format if there is no subtitle stream
- It supports the following html tags
<i> </i> for italics
<b> </b> for bold
This is for the guys who have read the "how to keep the italics
in subtitles" guide.
If you need more tags let me know but keep in mind that this
was desgined as a high performance subtitle mixer and not as
a web browser :)
- It doesn't crash anymore if you try to change font and color
through the property page

There was no change in the subtitle source. Any file already created will play without any problems.

If you encounter a CPU load increase of more than up to 5% after installing the subtitle mixer please let me know. Basically this filter passes the samples through without copying them. Therefore there is nearly no load increase.

Thank you for your patience and supporting me with all your test results.

I hope that this time there will be less problems. Anyway I have included an uninstall. (As usual through control panel).

By the way you should update the OggDS filters as well (current version 0.9.8.5). There are some minor bugfixes, especially for some locking problems.

Btw Tobias, you forgot to change the version number it still says 1.0.0.0 instead of 1.1.0.0.

For some reason the wmp reports the clip as being 2:31:30 long instead of just 24:21. Any ideas on why this happends, didn't use todo that with the old filter.

Lets put it short: I need Central European Script instead of Western (for subtitles in romanian) and it seams that the Subtitle Mixer "forgets" about it (in fact forgets about everyting else than Western). I can change it in the font box (Change font and color) but when I come back to this window after pressing OK or Apply (and then double click on Subtitle Mixer...), the script is reset to Western. If you could fix that too I would really consider moving definitively to Ogg. Thanx and keep up the GOOD work.
