I don't expect there to be one single program that can do all this but some tips would be appreciated.
I'm looking for programs that
1. can show me all the statistics possible from a avi or dvd (like resolution, frame rate, soundrate and more advanced)
2. can run at 64bit on an Alpha workstation under WinNT, linux or unix.
3. can analyze the video stream and tell me if I'm going to encode i.e. 4 encodings and then mix 'em, what the best motion and bitrate would be for this 4 encodings given a certain file size (for best quality)
4. a program that automatically switches between bitrate settings during encoding for an optimized bitrate at any time, given a final file size.
OK, that's my wishlist :)
