I have a 1.33athlon and 512ddr on a Asus mobo...and i get on average of .6-.7 with no background activity. I was wondering what are some good hardware tweaks to perform for speed out cce and other's regarding bios features to try, windows memory config's, hdd settings such as ata1xx, raid, udma etc...
If you have any suggestions for tweaking please post for specific mobo's and also mobo's in general. Im sure im not the only one looking for these.
So far im looking at Turbmode and udma5 in bios with 4 ultraATA/100 hdd's with default window's settings from install.

I get .87 on a P!!! 600MHz laptop, but that's by just dropping a file in and encoding.
If you are frameserving from AVIsynth, you're going a good deal faster than I am. I get about .024 from AVIsynth...which is still faster than TMPG2.51. TMPG 2.52 caught up alot. I hope they tweak the crap out of that program.

Bits can you give me some information like motherboard what kind of asus ,and operation system.
I have a 1.4athlon and i get 1.5-1.6 so maybe we can figure out why your not getting faster speeds
Also if you can overclock and not have any problems with your encodes i'd say do that. I know i went up from 1.4 to 1.5 1.6 after i overlocked just 100mhz.

Thanks for the help. this is the mobo
ASUS a7m266 ddr sdram socket a motherboard
AMD 760 Chipset
in my bios it only lets me choose between 100 and 133 fsb...i choose 133 because i believe the ddr ram doubles that to 266. ive alway wondered though if it should read 266 in my bios. but i think..think..the ram doubles that to 266. as far as the rest of the motherboard options i only changed one option and that is from normal mode to turbo mode. the rest of the options are default.
ive never seen anything above .702 so far...nothing at all...it only broke .7 for a few secs too.
i dont know how to tweak performace at all...i just use default everything for hardware and software.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out..i really appreciate it...and i do mean that.

I don't have much as far as hardware tweaks, but I'll post my stuff. I have an ASUS CUV4X-D with dual p3 1GHz, 512MB crucial pc133. I frameserve NTSC DVD's with dvd2avi/avisynth into CCE 2.50 and encode to SVCD at no less than 2mbps w/224 audio. I usually get 1.100 or 1.200 on Film DVD's. I also encode a lot of old school kungfu movies, I used greedyhma to remove the interlacing and on those i usually get .600 to .800. I'm running WinXP Pro. I'm also running a bunch of stuff in the background, IIS, Serv-U, dnetc, and a few others. Even though CCE is using both cpu's, my total usage during an encode never goes over 70%. I wish CCE was a little more efficient. Hope this helps.

well my video is 640x480... .avi. these are captured .avi's from AVI_IO. I then applie filters in vdub and same a new .avi using huffyuyv codec. I cannot use .avs due to cce 2.50 crashing...more like folding every time its starts to encode. SO i have to save a new huge .avi. This avi is usually around 14gigs big and it is still 640x480. Im doing a vbr 3 pass of a minbitrate of 0, a max bitrate of 9000, and a average bitrate of 4500. I set the image quality preference to 100% and the noise filtering to 6. I pretty much follow the guide at www.robshot.com for the most part. Currently i am getting liek .512 on speed. Im not sure why my syste SUX so bad but i guess it just does. For 20minutes it takes about 2.5 hours for this 3pass to complete. Like described at robshot.com i due no audio aswell...just video. so to cap up
source= 14gig .avi (huffyuyv)
soures= 640x480
bitrat= avg 4500, max 9000, min 0
config= www.robshot.com
ccespd= .512
happy?= HELL NO
