Ok, I'm going to be capturing some tv which I am then going to encode to Divx. The filters I will be using are cropping, noise reduction (temporal smoother), and deinterlace. What order should I put these in? Also, what do you think is the best deinterlacer? Thanks.

Take a look here:

(it's 10 lines below this thread).

I finally used temporal cleaner in the most recent version (WAY better result as with temporal smoother).
order:
[first and before everything else, make sure that the fields are in the right order)
1. Deinterlace (vdub internal, blend fields)
2. cropping.
3. temporal cleaner
4. resize (had to use prec. bilinear, prec. bicubic resulted in a way less compressable movie)

Btw., this is for PAL TV ;)

NTSC may need IVTC first...

I was planning on using avisynth to do the processing, so can I use that Temporal Cleaner in avisynth? So the order should be deinterlace, crop, noise reduction?

there's only a temporal smoother for avisynth, works the same as vdub's built-in temp smoother.

Not nearly the same quality as temp cleaner.
