I just happened to have the Dune DVD sitting on my HDD, so I thought I'd try this. My results:

Divx4 + ogg: OK;
Divx4 + MP3: OK;
Divx3 + anything: Slow playback, < 10fps, CPU usage at about 3%, This is using either divxdec or the divx 3 codec for playback.
MS MP4v2; cannot mux, don't really care, tho.

Also, I've noticed that sometimes when seeking, the video displays familiar green boxes, until the next keyframe.

In any case, the problems are quite minor to me, and I will be doing all my future rips in Divx4/ogg in an ogg stream. And as a note of nitpicking, the file extension shouldn't really be .avi anymore, should it?

That's only to make programs open the ogg format when double-clicking on them. It has no other function/effect on playback. This is just for convenience until there's an implementation for .ogm.

Blacksun added .ogm support into PowerDivX 4 Alpha 8 .. for those interested, PM me at powerdivx.com and you will get access to beta test forums if you write me a bit about your background ( no long stories ) in video encoding and PCs in general .. this is no form of arrogance, believe me, we just really want to avoid that the player is in the hands of Newbies in its current status .... we hope to have a public beta within the next 2 - 3 weeks ....
