progressive scan on a dvd player and svcd playback

i have a progressive scan dvd player and i was wondering (when i get a compatible tv) if the progressive scan setting will have any affect on svcd (ntsc film 24fps) video playback. or if this option is even useable with svcd? will the result be higher quality or lower?

any input would be greatly appreciated,,

All I can say is I have a progressive scan TV and well-done svcd's look as good as dvd's to my eye, which is to say excellent!
