View Full Version : bbMPEG mux stops with "no audio stream specified"

Hi there,

I could not find similar bug reports in the forums so here is the description.

I am using DVD2SVCD 1.0.6. build 4 with BeSweet 1.2.b1. During the movie video+audio mux phase bbMPEG pops up and says "an audio stream file must be specified, running settings...". The project is about (16:9 NTSC DVD) -> (4:3 PAL SVCD) conversion.

Of course, the audio file (in fact both CCE_Encoded_Video_PAL.mpv and Encoded_audio_1.mp2 files) are present.

"bbMPEG Movie Settings1.ini" starts like this (pls note that no audio1 specified!):
====================
[loadsave]
description=DVD2SVCD Settings
[iofiles]
saveTempVideo=0
saveTempAudio=0
intraQuantMatrix=E:\Metheny\Intra.mtr
nonIntraQuantMatrix=E:\Metheny\Non-Intra.mtr
statisticsFilename=
Audio1Filename=
VideoFilename=E:\Metheny\CCE_Encoded_Video_PAL.mpv
...

I tried crash recovery 2-3 times which tattooed my log file so the real relevant part of dvd2svcd_log.txt is as follows:
====================
...
Video Encoding finished.

====================

At this point bbMPEG pops up with the options. Audio1 field is empty and in vain do I specify the mp2 file, it exits. I tried to add the mp2 to bbMPEG Movie Settings1.ini without success. All my files can be kept for a couple of days I have some to investigate.

Any idea is highly appreciated,
Z

Hi Zoltan,

there went something wrong with the "bbMPEG Movie Settings1.ini" creation, i think. Have a look at the one from my last encode:

bbMPEG Movie Settings1.ini
==========================
[loadsave]
description=DVD2SVCD Settings
[iofiles]
saveTempVideo=0
saveTempAudio=0
intraQuantMatrix=G:\Ripping\Intra.mtr
nonIntraQuantMatrix=G:\Ripping\Non-Intra.mtr
statisticsFilename=
AudioFilename=G:\Ripping\Encoded_audio_1.mp2
Audio1Filename=
VideoFilename=G:\Ripping\CCE_Encoded_Video_PAL.mpv
[general]
...

You see the difference? - The "AudioFilename=" parameter is missing within yours (i think "Audio1Filename=" is for 2nd audio stream). You could try to edit your *.ini file and specify your path with the "AudioFilename=" parameter then you have to copy it to the bbMPEG directory and rename it to "default.ini" otherwise dvd2svcd will just overwrite your changes when you try to recover from the muxing and cutting step again. Then you have to execute "RunbbMPEG.exe" in bbMPEG directory and see if this works. ;) - For me it worked then. But selecting the proper *.mp2 file by hitting the "Open AS 1" should have worked, too. - Hmm :confused:

- Does the *.mp2 play correctly in mediaplayer or PowerDVD?
- Do you try to encode with 2 audio streams? (And one is not found?)
- Post the complete dvd2svcd_log.txt (try 2 posts if it don't fits)

Gerti,

Having modified bbMPEG's default.ini I managed to mux the files manually, but in the meantime I found the origin of the problem:

The .mpv file (1397 MB) in mplayer2 shows no video. I mean it plays the file well, but the screen is limo black. Furthermore, the initial (i.e.: before mux) .mp2 and .mpv shows different durations (video: 1:24:48 - correct, audio: 1:58:31 sound slooow) ;-(

Since it is a completely new problem now, I suppose I should create a new topic. What' s the policy in this case?

Does it help if I post my "dvd2svcd project file.d2s" or this is enough:
DVD2AVI: NTSC Field auto (but forced by dvd2svcd);
Audio: 1 audio track, stereo, English, 224, downsampling enabled (again, BeSweet 1.2.b1 used);
Frameserver: BicubicResize (Q: That's why I am not keen on re-encoding - does it really worth the time?);
Bitrate: max2250/min1850/avg2100; (made room for 224 audio...)
CCE: default 4pass vbr, all ticks on;
Pulldown: forced in case of NTSC;
bbMPEG: all default;
Subtitles: Do not RIP
CD Image: Title bitmap custom, ChangeCDPic default, vcdxbuild: DVD chapters PBC use selections;
Conversion: the only movie selected, dur: 1:38:40 -> FYI: pls note the encoded video&audio lengths above, aspect ratio (4:3) -> Q: is this the input or the output?, NTSC to PAL enabled, no deinterlace

Z

Hi Zoltan,

i would not open another thread for it - because you had to describe your problem again and it will end up having to give the same info you already gave within this one. ;)

Now back to your problem, please post the "dvd2svcd_log.txt" here it's the best way to track down a problem - but it must be the complete one.

I think there is a problem with the ripping - do you use internal routines or an external ripper? Sometimes there are sound issues when using external rippers.

With the BicubicResize search the forum because it was discussed in deep here and with the aspect ratio have a look at the "Sticky: An amazing Thread about 16:9 vs 4:3 ..." in this forum. (It's not easy to understand - so read a few times ;))

So please post your log here.

Gerti, thanks for your response.

I had alreay read through that acpect ratio thread , but only once :) Will repeat it.

What I am soing at the moment is to restart the whole process and make it simpler: kepp it 16:9, no downsampling. So far I used internal routines for ripping, because I read that fits best dvd2svcd but I can have a try with dvddecrypter.

Shipping the log is a bit of a pain (not for me), because of the the numerous crash recoveries. I do hope it'll finish by morning (the machine is in my office) so tomorrow I can report.

Best regards,
Z

Hi Gerti,

Well, the SVCD creation finished! At least I have a playable output. Unfortunately, the playback using Daemon tools on my PC is slow (around 10-20%). I can only check the burnt CD in the evening. In the meantime I'll search the forum for this problem, but I suspect it's about ripping, since this time I had no special settings at all.

In case you find anything suspicious in the log, pls advice.

P.S.:
1., This means all my previous problems were due to either 16:9->4:3 conversion or downsampling.
2., The "Title picture" downloaded from Amazon looks ultra cool! Thanks for that! :D
