You gotta help us out here.
Think for a sec about what you said and the amount of info you gave.
It's like saying this drink is red why?
Expand a little tell us what you did.
Was the total time of the movie in a section that lists more then 1 CD to use in the bitrate tab? (EX: Between 76 and 100 use 2 cd's, Between 125 and 163 use 3 cd's)
Did you change these figures to 1 cd or the time values?
What did you change from the default?
How much disc space do you have left when it's done?
Have you read the Newbie Faq and the Q + A yet?
Post your DVD2SVCD_Log.txt file using cut and paste not attach.
Moving this to the Newbie Forum.

See this example for making a first post. I am afraid yours might win an opposite award if it existed :) That's ok, everybody has to learn. Try a bit harder next time.

Hi
I have just tried my first DVD2SVCD encode and I also had the problem I think natcom tried to describe ;)
The movie was Man In The Iron Mask (PAL). I was using DVD2SVCD ver 1.0.6 build 4. Basically the encode finished at 100% but I only got 1 set of bin/cue files (for CD1)...no mpg or bin/cue for the second half of the movie. And also the CCE encoded mpv was half the size I would expect (703mb). I also noticed the message Cannot find registry entries for CCE, running CCE once in the Video Encoding section of the log file (see below).
The Conversion tab reported the movie as 2:06:22 so I modified the bitrate setting to fit a movie bewteen 100 and 128 mins to 2 CDs of 800mb. I also changed the DVDRip tab settings to Use vStrip (as my very first attempt hung midway through ripping the VOBs when using the Internal Routines). And I also made some changes on the Frameserver tab for resize method and TemporalSmoother settings.
Any help greatly appreciated, as I really want to get DVD2SVCD working....gotta love those SVCD :)
thanks

the problem was at the ripping step. Only half of the movie was ripped. This is weird... Try again with internal routines.
lek
12th February 2002, 09:40
my first try was with internal routines, and DVD2SVCD hung mid way through ripping the VOBs
Is it possible to use SmartRipper to rip before starting DVD2SVCD process?
thanks for your help

Yes it is possible to ripp using smartripper then using dvd2svcd. You said you used the internal ripper before and it froze. DId you also try using vstrip and what was your results?
1 thing you can try is after ripping with smartripper. RUn the ripped vobs through the internal ripper that comes with dvd2svcd, make sure that those vob files go in to another folder.
lek

using internal routines, DVD2SVCD failed during the rip process (no error msg, just stopped responding)
using vStrip option, the conversion finished 100% but I only ended up with 1cd containing the first half of the film (see log above)
..I am trying SmartRipper atm, and will let you know if this is successful
BTW is the error message Cannot find registry entries for CCE, running CCE once normal? Should I worry about this?
thanks again

I noticed after I posted that you had used the vstrip which was posted >>DUH<< me ... Well no thats not normal for you to get the cce registry error, have you tried uninstalling and installing cce again? If not try that....also what version of cce are you using?
Mozart

try the following:
- rip with DVDDecriptor (if your drive is not damaged, it can rip anything);
- use dvd2svcd with " rip with internal routines" on, choose another folder as output and load the already ripped ifo file from your HD.

chainsaw135 that is normal now for people that have never run CCE before. It is a new feature of DVD2SVCD to avoid a possible error for people that have never run CCE before. It will open up CCE and allow CCE to enter the registry settings it needs too and then close it and restart it. Now the registry entries are there and the potential problem is avoided. You should only ever see this once unless you uninstall CCE.
This sounds like a problem with the individual DVD, try another one and see if you get the same problem. There are some known to give Vstrip and the Internal Rountines fits, an example is Swordfish.

seems to be working ok so far :)
I tried your suggestion chainsaw135, I ripped with SmartRipper (my usual ripper I always use prior to encoding SBC DivX)...that worked fine, and ripped all 7 VOBs without a hitch. Then set DVD2SVCD to use Internal Routine to "rip" from the VOBs on my HDD which SmartRipper extracted.
It's now doing a 4 pass video encode, so I will have to wait a while for the results but this time the audio stream is the correct length, so I'm confident the video will be ok and I will get 2 bin/cue images as expected :)
Also no message in the log about CCE registry entries this time round, as predicted by markrb.
So looks like some incompatability with vStrip and this disc...just my luck to get this on my *first* attempt :)
..great app...and great support!

since you ripped the dvd 2 disk there is no need doiing it again with DVD2SVCD. Unchekc Ripping and start with conversion. The vobīs are already ripped by the smart ripper. Saves you some time.

@DonGreco
As a newbie you should do some research before to make statements contradicting the moderator;). He need to rip from HD to HD to avoid the old and well know audio (and sometimes subtitle) async issue. The source of this problem is a rip done with another rip that is not internal_routines nor vstrip.

well, didnīt mean to buzz off the mod:scared: BUT thatīs the way it works 4 me. SmartRipper to HD(backup), DVD2SVCD without ripping, no downsampling to 44.1, no sync probs so far (done 5DVDīs so far and some digitizers). BUT iīll try this out;)
