Hi parkmaul,

did you read the posted answers when you first started the same thread 2 days ago?

Have you tried the suggestions? Or did you make sure that your Processor is supported by CCE?

I assume you just haven't found the last thread (yet), so again a short summary. ;)

- Cinema Craft Encoder aka CCE (does the video encoding part) and does not support older CPUs (P2, old Celerons, K6) so if you have one of those this error can appear (although i wonder if CCE would install with those CPUs)

- dvd2svcd 1.0.6 Build 3 has a little bug and this error can appear if CCE has never been started before because there are some registry settings missing.

So my advice was to start CCE manually and just close it again then the error should disappear when using dvd2svcd. Or you just download the new 1.0.6 Build 4 which also corrects this issue.

So please report back on that.

Hi "gertie",

Thanks for your input. Problem is now solved!

By the way; When I download VCD episodes from the net, approx. size 220 mb (MPEG1) for a 20 minute episode. The quality of these mpeg-giles are very good. Far better than when I convert a high res dv- or avi-file to vcd mpeg1. Could you suggest any mpeg encoder which is capable of converting to mpeg with a high quality result? I have tried a lot of different encoders but none seem to give me a satisfactory result!!

Hope you are able to help. Thanks!

Hi parkmaul,

sorry, but i did only a little playing around with encoding DV-AVI with the DV-Camcorder of my parents-in-law in the past and never got into it very deep (mainly for the lack of spare time for it). But from my experience DV material is a very hard stuff for encoders and i never was satisfied with the results, too. When you try to go for VCDs then you might want to start a thread on it in the VCD forum. When you're going for SVCDs then just wait a little longer as dvd2svcd will support it in the near future. ;)

The latest Builds already have AVI2SVCD support (but only in alpha stage) and there are still some issues with it so try on your own risk. ;) (Just choose "AVI2SVCD" in "Misc." tab to activate it - see here for a little guide on it http://www.edensrising.com/dvd2svcd/dvd2svcd_avi2svcdref.html and do a search in the forum for more on AVI-support)

Also, there will be TMPEGEnc 2.51 support in one of the next Builds which is said to give good results for encoding DV material to VCD(SVCD).

But wait for some DV(AVI) experts here or post in the VCD forum.
