How do you get the best quality?

Like what is use vstrip compared to use internal routines?

in dvd2avi what iDCT is the best? 32-bit SSE MMX, 64-bit floating, or ieee-1180?

I'm guessing obviously in Audio best is 384 for bitrate..

in Frameserver resize method which is best? and is it smart to edit the avisnyth?

for cd image which is the best to use?

and for encoder what is image quality priority? default seems to be 17. and all the boxes are checked and multipass VBR is 4. (using cce 2.5) should I change any of these setting or change any settings in cce itself?

Thanks in advance.

also i had a friend tell me if you rip a wide screen dvd (one of those really really wide ones like 3 inches of black on top and bottom) at 4:3 ratio then you get a wide screen movie with about an inch at top and bottom and supposedly doesn't distort it.. i was wondering it that was true.

read the newbie faq. Read everything linked there also. As a first aproach about the quality: let everything as default and extract with internal routines (or vstrip. Make a choice).

Read around. Do a search. Many of these questions have been answered.

384 Audio does not play correctly in many DVD players. 224 is the highest that seems to always play correctly.

From some in depth discussions it seems that ieee-1180 reference is the best, but also the slowest.
