distorted aspect ratio

Got a Blu-ray "The Hunter" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1703148/ region B.
On back it says 2:35:1 but it's definitely distorted in hight, it's squashed!
I've never seen anything like this before, it's pretty much unwatchable!
First thought it could be my TV or Blu-ray player but there's no way to correct this.
So I'm gonna return it and try to get another release that hopefully has the right aspect ratio.

Is it possible to correct this, thinking of stretching it in hight and keeping the width?

Sometimes this could be the result of a setting in BDplayer (output resolution set to 576i) and in TV (various Zoom modi).

A follow up...
The production company admitted this is badly authored and the wrong aspect ratio on the blu-ray somehow slipped through.
The DVD is OK, but this movie has some spectacular nature scenery that looks so much better on blu-ray.
No problem returning the one I bought, ordered an Australian release from madman.com.au with the correct aspect ratio.
