Hello everybody. . .
I'm converting many DVD Films into mp4 using (Avidemux, x264, neroaacenc, mp4box) to do this. . .
The problem comes when dealing with the DVD subs, I know that mp4 containers support srt subs, but I can't convert all subs(chinese for example) into srt since the conversion requires some sort of OCR.
so the question is what is the subtitles format that is supported in mp4 containers(can be muxed into an mp4 file) AND conversion into it can be done without OCR??
Sorry for my ignorance and thanks for your help

mp4box should be able to mux vobsubs into mp4 containers, but if your player supports reading them is a whole different story. I'd probably opt for mkv container - at least there's some hardware support for vobsub in mkv.

thanks for your reply. . .
please help me
1) can avidemux convert DVD subs into vobsubs, and how to do it??
2) what is the command-line i should provide to mp4box,is it just "mp4box final.mp4 -add video.mp4 -add audio.mp4 -add subs.idx"?
note that video.mp4 is an H264-video file emcoded with x264, audio.mp4 is the AAC-audio file encoded with neroaacenc, subs.idx is the vobsub file converter with avidemux(not sure that avidemux can do it) if not supported in avidemux please recommend me a software that can do it.
3)I'm using k-lite codec pack latest version on windows 7 to play videos, do you think it supports vobsub?, if not please provide a good player which supports vobsub.
Thanks again for your help

This one is easy as DVD subs are vobsubs.

I've been using YAMB (with MP4box) to mux VOBsubs (.idx/.sub) subtitles into the .MP4 container for years. It works well.
Plus, support is good in hardware media players ;)

Just about every (well known) high-def network media player fitted with Realtek and Sigma chip-sets...

Right, and if you happen to have SUP files as demuxed by something like PGCDemux, then SubtitleCreator can instantly convert them to VobSubs(IDX/SUB).
