I always use staxrip for my encoding but it doesn't use 64 bit version of x264.
I see that ripbot use 64bit version of x264, i suppose it is faster... do you suggest to use ripbot for the same video quality but faster encoding?

i made a comparison, with a 1 minute video, ripbot is 8% faster than staxrip, same avs script and same x264 command...
I prefer staxrip gui, but it is slower...

It should be possible to replace the 32bit x264 in Staxrip with a 64bit one. Very likely you can find the information about that in the Staxrip thread.

What I would do:
Download http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=162656 and rename it to x264.exe replacing the current exe in the staxrip folder. Download a 64bit x264 build (e.g. http://mirror01.x264.nl/x264/64bit/8bit_depth/revision2184/x264.exe) and rename it to x264_64.exe and place it into the same directory as x264.exe

Above of all the x264 configuration GUI, in which you can see all parameters (even the value of the default one, missing in the command line).
You can see for example the parameters changing when you choose a preset or a tune value, and you can modify every parameter in the gui.
I know that maybe it is only for advanced users (or semiadvanced...)

frankly i'm more happy with presets created by developers. expert users can add whatever they want to command line.

It could be a right choice.
But i'd add some preset like bluray compatibility mode, and the task log.
