TSCV: Can't Determine Device Type

I am trying to make a motion menu from TSCV. I have version .084 release 1. I have succeeded in creating still menus.

1. After I enter the MPG video, and doubleclick on it to go to the chapters, I get the error message: Error 0. Cannot determine the device type from teh given filename extension. If I go back to the menu tab and double click again, I don't get the error. ( I got this same error when I created the still menus, but was successful creating those menus.)

2. When I am at the chapters menu, the slider at the bottom to move through the movie seems "locked". It will not move or display the frames.

3. I can enter my chapter times, then wehn I open my menu generator, I get the same erro in number 1 above. I can go ahead and enter the information, per the guides (http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/r/d/rdm186/guide2/). Then when I move throuh to the point of clicking the Create Menu button at the bottom of the menu geniterator, I again get that error. I click OK, and then it opens a window titled MenuGenerator Movie, with a box in it, and nothing happens.

Any help or ideas?

Well, I've discovered a little more, but still having problems.

It seems that the instructions at the site I referenced earlier assumes that the user knows about VFAPI Converter. It tells you to install it, but then is VERY vague about running it (doesn't even say to run it or what exe it is...but I finally decided to find it as it was referenced.)

At any rate, I ran the VFAPI Converter, and created the AVI file, and followed the instructions.

Now, instead of "Cannot Determine device type", I get an error that There is not a device driver installed. So, I am still getting nowhere.

I hope this further information provides someone with infor to help me out here.

Also, when I have created the cahpters, and I click on the option to go to the menu generator, nothing happens.
