If they are English subs often you can get very good automatic results if you first use BDSup2Sub to export as ifo/sup pair. Then load in DVDSubEdit. Run automatic OCR then export as .srt.

It doesn't always work. But my experience has been something like 90% clean output. Meaning I don't have to edit the .srt.

Search the .srt output file for the underscore character ('_'). If you find a bunch of lines like %$##_?__/&& then you were unlucky. Usually botched lines have at least one '_' character in the line. If you don't find any it's likely a clean automatic OCR session.

Thanx everybody.
One question
Can subrip accept idx/sub as input? I seen only IFO and vob.

Subrip is outdated and far too clumsy compared to DVD Subextractor (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=162633).

Can subrip accept idx/sub as input?
Yes. Go File->Open VOB followed by 'Open Dir'.
